The Peacock Feather

The Peacock feather has a special place in my heart because I very likely would not have discovered the art of Jin Shin Jyutsu had it not been for a pair of lovely beaded peacock feather earrings; they were being worn by a woman who arrived at my boat building business accompanying her friend who was looking for a company to build him a houseboat.

My partner Harold, noticing her dangling earrings commented on them and asked where she got them. She said, “I made them myself. Would you like to see one?” She handed it to Harold who handed it to me. As soon as it touched my palm I could feel tingles coming from it. Without hesitating I asked her what she did for a living. She said, “I’m a healer. I’m a practitioner of Jin Shin Jyutsu.”

Since then I’ve read that the symbolism of the peacock feather has multiple meanings in different cultures, largely spiritual in nature. For me it is about awakening as I continue to discover more of my self and of living life well through my ongoing studies of the art of Jin Shin Jyutsu.
